Compeyre Village visit
History & Heritage
I have already presented part of thehistory of the village of Compeyre. If its history starts from the Gallo-Roman period, the remaining remains date from the Middle Ages.
In the sandstone of the calades, cobbled streets, you will be able to see old fortifications, a restored castle, the vault of an old church, an oven and a communal well. On the square, facing the fountain, grain measures in excellent condition take place. These measures allowed residents to pay their rent but also individuals to carry out transactions during the markets.
A digital ballad of the village is available via the free mobile application "Balades Grands Causses".
